Southland Civil Engineering & Survey, LLP (SCE&S) is a design and consulting company located in Pasadena, California. In close proximity to downtown Los Angeles, CA, SCE&S serves all of the Cities and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
The design staff has extensive experience with single family custom homes, residential tracts (from Small Lot Ordinance subdivisions, to those in excess of 300 to 1000 homes), large tilt-up warehouse facilities in excess of a 100,000 square feet, strip malls, condominiums, mixed-use, podium projects and other various commercial, industrial, infrastructure and the public facility design to support those types of construction. We are proficient in the design of grading, streets and parking lots, sewer, storm drain and water systems, storm water treatment BMPs and detention facilities, retaining walls, traffic control plans and all supporting documents and reports necessary for the approval and construction of those designs.
The survey and mapping staff is composed of experienced party chiefs and Professional Land Surveyors capable of solving complex boundaries, preparing ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, tract/parcel maps, condominium plans and legal descriptions. SCE&S is equipped with total stations, robotics and the latest in GPS technologies to serve the various needs of the projects in a cost effective manner.
SCE&S can provide Due Diligence, Land Use Entitlement, Planning, Mapping & Topographic Survey, Plans and Reports for Construction, Construction Support and Construction Staking. In addition we have established working relationships with leading Biologists, Arborists, Architects and Landscape Architects in the Greater Los Angeles area to be able to provide complete design services for any project.
SCE&S can work equally well for an owner or developer directly or as part of a team directed by an Architect or design/build contractor.
KEY STAFF MEMBERS
Larry L. Mar, Partner – RCE 55069, PLS 7652
Larry has over 35 years of experience in the land development industry. He provides project management and is in charge of the company’s Planning, Mapping and Surveying services. He is also a Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) and Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) with the State of California. Larry has worked with client’s such as the Boeing Company, Colton Lee Communities, KB Home, Lewis Companies, Centex, Pulte, Standard Pacific Homes, D.R. Horton and Essex Property Trust during his 20 plus years of experience as an owner of a previous engineering and surveying company where he was Vice President and Director of Surveying and Mapping. Other projects include schools, churches, hospitals, golf course developments, resorts and various commercial/industrial projects throughout Southern California.
Bryan Lopez, Partner
Bryan has over 30 years of experience in the field of civil engineering and land development. Abilities include a high degree of computerized technical skills and a comprehensive knowledge of land development, site layout and grading design. Bryan’s position includes supervision of engineering staff, distribution of company work flow and value engineering review of project plans to help streamline project development and provide cost effective construction solutions. Notable projects include the Grading and Roadway design of the Hyundai California Proving Grounds: a 4,300 acre, $60 million dollar facility constructed to recreate the road and highway systems across North America. Other major engineering projects include: commercial complexes, condominium projects, and large scale single-family subdivisions.
Amanda graduated in 2000 from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a BS in City and Regional Planning. Notwithstanding her experience in Planning, her career path has consistently been guided by working with engineering/survey firms, with additional experience at environmental and architecture firms. Amanda began her career designing and processing preliminary grading plans for residential tract entitlements in LA and Ventura Counties, but now handles most of the planning, engineering & survey mapping processes of the company. She conducts preliminary due diligence for potential project proposals, and manages all active projects for staffing, scheduling, and processing.
Veronica Stack, Partner
Veronica Stack serves as the Controller of Southland Civil Engineering & Survey, LLP and has been a member of the organization since it was founded in 2012. Her responsibilities include all financial aspects and Human Resources. Veronica has more than 20 years of experience with engineering firms throughout Southern California and earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Cal state LA.
