Land Surveyor

SCE&S is seeking qualified candidates with different levels of experience in field surveying, mapping, and construction staking.

  • Organize and schedule field crews for photogrammetric and ground topography, boundary, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys and construction staking
  • Provide mapping for subdivisions and prepare legal descriptions
  • Manage potential calls from new clients. Research, prepare scope of services/budgets, and procure contracts
  • Perform all manner of field surveying, error adjustment, and boundary resolution
  • Perform surveys with conventional and GPS equipment, including post processing
  • Experience with the Public Land Survey System, establishment of boundary control, and application of the principles of excess and deficiency distribution
  • Work directly with the partners and clients to address construction surveying needs, as well as support engineering services
  • Experience with AutoCAD and basic CAD mapping skills
  • Experience with Civil3D and Autodesk Survey Databases preferred
  • Familiarity with Line Code Sets and Description Key Sets
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

 Senior Project Civil Engineer

A position is open for a Senior Project Civil Engineer at a growing team-oriented civil engineering and surveying company located in Old Pasadena, CA.  We specialize in all types of land development projects throughout Southern California.

We seek qualified candidates with at least 15 years’ experience capable of designing and overseeing all aspects of projects from concept through construction.  Must be registered as a Civil Engineer in California and graduated from a 4-year university.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Ability to organize, schedule and supervise a project team
  • Ability to design for street, sewer, water and storm drain plans.
  • Ability to understand and perform grading design.
  • Ability to perform calculations and prepare reports in support of those designs.
  • Ability to perform specialty work under the direction of Management.
  • Ability to generate AutoCAD drawings.
  • Understanding of 3D surfaces and points is beneficial for necessary communication with survey & production staff.

Knowledge of a majority of the following is required:

  •  MS4 in Ventura and Los Angeles County
  • ADA requirements
  • Grading and Retaining Wall Design
  • Hydrology for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties
  • Open channel and pressure pipe hydraulics
  • 2016 CBC
  • Los Angeles City B-Permit
  • ACAD Civil 3D 2014
  • QSD/SWPP Experience
